If the betting continues as it has been doing on Pink Dogwood to win this year Investec Oaks, then the 7/2 currently being touted for that horse will seem very generous and as such now is the time that you should be betting on it.
That is of course if you do fancy its chances but having said that there is a huge jump regarding the odds of the joint second favourites those being Sea of Faith and Sparkle Roll, who are both very easy to back at odds of 14/1.
The field of runners in this year race is as large as normal, and as such I am more than confident that many punters will be looking at having an each-way bet if they do fancy any of the other runners, and with one fifth the odds to two places generally on offer at most betting sites, there is value to be had on those each-way bets.
I do think though that if you are of the mind it will be any of the other horses that will win, you are much more likely to be offered much higher odds by getting over to the Betfair betting exchange, and possibly asking for higher odds than the bookies are offering, as there will be no shortages of layers eager to lay punters bets on that betting exchange.
Hermosa is a Solid Each-Way Punt
Despite the odds on Hermosa being around the 16/1 mark, those odds do give the impression that horse is up against it, but I am of the mindset that it is going to run a big race this year and may just scrape into one of the top three positions.
If fact, be prepared to do a little hunting around for I am convinced there will be some bookies out there that will be paying out to four places, but as is always the case you will have to put in the legwork to find them.
Plenty of 20/1 and 25/1 Shots
The odds compilers at many bookies’ sites appear to be taking an open mind as to the rest of the field, for they have plenty of horses chalked up at odds of 20/1
Those 20/1 shots include horses such as Wonderment, Manuela De Vega, Just Wonderful, Tamniah, Star Catcher, Happen, Entitle and Chablis and it wouldn’t take too much of an improvement in any of their form to make it into an each-way place paying position.
As for the horses currently trading at the 25/1 mark, well there are plenty of them for you to pick and choose from, if you do think any of them are going to make an impression in this race, those horses for references include Secret Thoughts, Tarnawa, Villa D’amore, Peach Tree, Antonia De Vega, Maqsad, Goddess, Fleeting and Lavender’s Blue, and once again I do feel it will be on the betting exchanges where the true valued and very best odds on those runners will be found.
