This coming Tuesday will see the start of the Royal Ascot race meeting, which is of course the one race meeting of the year when Her Majesty the Queen will have bets placed on her, regarding the colour of the outfit she chooses to wear each day.
In fact, that isn’t the only novelty type of bet that you can place on that event, for there will be plenty of punters placing a bet on the jockey they will hope will end up being the top jockey of that meeting, that being the one that wins the most races.
Being such a major event in the racing calendar each year, I doubt you are going to find in too hard to find a bookie that is offering you such a betting market, and if it is one you fancy taking a punt on today I will be looking at those jockeys with the best chances of having the most winners.
However, the one jockey that is currently heading the betting and one that the majority of punters do feel has an outstanding chance of riding winner after winner is Ryan Moore, and such has the volumes of wagers been on him, he is the odds-on 4/7 favourite to be crowned the top jockey at Royal Ascot.
Frankie Dettori Next in the Betting at Royal Ascot
It is good to see that Frankie Dettori has worked his way back up, after the scandal that surrounded him not too long ago, which saw many leading trainers drop him as their chosen jockey for many races, in fact he is not the second favourite to be the top jockey at Royal Ascot this year.
If you do fancy placing a bet on him, then I would suggest that you do so sooner rather than later, for if he does win several races on day one then his current 3/1 odds will most certainly start to drop in value.
Other Popular Jockeys Riding at Ascot
Looking further down the betting market on the top jockey at Royal Ascot, you will see plenty of names you recognise, and if you do rate any of those jockeys chances of success this year then allow me to quickly rattle through their names and their current odds too.
The next one in the betting is James Doyle who does have a fair chance of being crowned the top jockey at Royal Ascot this year and his odds of doing so are 6/1, the odds then do jump very noticeably on the next jockeys with Jim Crowley being chalked up at odds of 20/1 and Donnacha O’Brien being a 25/1 shot.
A few outsiders that you may or may not fancy betting, but if you do the following odds are there for the taking include the likes of Oisin Murphy and Silvestre De Sousa who are both very easy to back at odds of 33/1 and then you have Jamie Spencer at 50/1 and Andrea Atzeni at 66/1.
